Congratulations President Barack Obama!
One of my favorite images of the inauguration is a smiling Yo Yo Ma playing "Simple Gifts." I looked up that song on Wikipedia. I thought it was a Quaker hymn, but it is in fact a Shaker hymn. Already at the bottom of the Simple Gifts Wiki entry states that "A version of the song was incorporated into music by John Williams and played at the inaguration of President Barack Obama."

Wasn't that great?! It is one of my favorite folk hymns. It is also incorporated into Copeland's Appalachian Spring Suite. Actually the William's piece was very reminiscent of Appalachian Spring.
Yo Yo Ma looked great with the wind blowing his hair and with him smiling and performing wonders on the cello.
And, I got a bit teary eyed and choked up during the speech. Loved how he ended it. Man, he is brilliant as a public speaker.
Here's to 4 years of hope!
